While 2020 will go down in history as the year that started with hope and hit a downward spiral before we were even out of the blocks it also forced us to take inventory of what is really important.
Our smiles and tears are hidden behind masks but one thing we noticed is how much people use their hands to express feelings. A hug is not allowed, but an encouraging touch on the shoulder has gone a long way to express feelings of solidarity, sympathy, hope and love.
Previously, women have always complained about their hands. Their fingers were too short / long, too big / too small, knuckles too big or no knuckles. Lockdown seems to have changed this negative perception. We realized that our hands tell the stories of our lives. Our hands nurture, they convey emotions, be it sad or happy. They do what needs to be done to keep the world going and our loved ones cared for.
Here’s to the hands that belong to us strong women and the way we shape the world for the better. May your hands tell great stories in 2021!
